The group Fiber Optics Innovation Lab (FOIL) of the Institute of Photonics welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date: Researcher (Postdoc) Nanoplasmonically functionalized optical fibre as flow reactor for sustainable photochemistry (salary scale 13 TV-L, 100 %)
The fixed-term position is for a duration of 12 months.
Your role
- You are researching and developing an innovative optical glass (fused silica) fibre.
- You are part of an EU-funded research project with a total of six international partners in the field of sustainable photochemistry.
- You are primarily concerned with: the functionalisation and characterisation of the glass fibre with plasmonic nanoparticles for use in a chemical flow reactor.
Who are we looking for?
Prerequisite for the employment is a successful completed university science degree in physics, chemistry, engineering related to optics/nanotechnology or similar.
In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Due to the international nature of the consortium involved, good written and spoken English skills and a willingness to travel for external research visits are required.
- A completed doctorate and practical experience with optical fibre technology is desirable.
- Experience in the following areas is also an advantage: metrology, nanoplasmonics, photochemistry, numerical simulation (Comsol, etc.), programming (Python, etc.)
