Research Assistant (PhD Position) – Manufacturing of integrated Photonic quantum system
(salary sale 13 TV-L, 75 %)
Nestled in a modern city surrounded by nature and with an exceptional standard of living, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ offers excellent working conditions in a vibrant scientific community.
The Institute of Photonics (IOP) welcomes applications for the following position starting at the earliest possible date: Research Assistant (PhD Position) – Manufacturing of integrated Photonic quantum system (salary sale 13 TV-L, 75 %)
The position is limited for 3 years.
Integrated photonics is one of the key technologies of the future – it enables powerful, energy-efficient, and compact solutions for communications, sensing, and quantum technology. The use of 3D printing processes opens up entirely new possibilities for the flexible and cost-effective production of complex photonic structures directly on the chip.
Your role
To strengthen our interdisciplinary research team, we are seeking a dedicated scientist in the field of integrated photonics with a focus on 3D printing technologies. Your work will focus on the development and production of chip-integrated electrical, optical, and electro-optical components using innovative additive manufacturing methods, particularly high-resolution processes such as multi-photon lithography.
Your work will focus on:
- Design and simulation of photonic components
- Experimental investigations into additive manufacturing
- Optical and geometric characterization of additively manufactured components
- Participation in an interdisciplinary collaborative project researching production technologies for quantum optical systems
- Evaluation, publication, and presentation of experimental results
- Supervision and guidance of research assistants and students
The described activities offer the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.
Who are we looking for?
Prerequisite for employment is a completed university degree (Master's degree) in physics, photonics, optics, or equivalent.
In addition, we are looking for a candidate with the following:
- Above-average academic performance is expected
