The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodetic Science invites applications for the following position of salary scale W3 NBesO starting at the earliest possible date: University Professorship in Building Materials Science
The Position
The Professorship for “Building Materials Science” is one of the essential professorships in higher education and research in Civil Engineering at the Ƶ. We are seeking applicants who will represent the research field of building materials science at an international level. The main research focus should be on structural engineering, particularly on cementitious materials such as concrete or mortar. Specifically, your commitment is expected in the following areas:
- Basic and applied research in the development and processing of modern, sustainable, resource-efficient, or functionalized building materials, especially concrete
- Securing large-scale and collaborative research projects in basic and applied research, and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research
- Active participation in the faculty's research focus on wind energy, as well as the continuation of the institute's sustainability-promoting research focus on concrete behaviour due to mechanical long-term loading (e.g., fatigue)
- Teaching in the faculty’s bachelor's and master's programs in both German and English
Furthermore, it is intended to involve you in the scientific management of the Material Testing Institute for Civil Engineering and Production Technology Hanover (MPA Hannover) and the Directorate of the Test Centre for Support Structures Hannover (TTH).
With the extensive laboratory and testing facilities of the institute, the MPA Hannover, and the TTH, the professorship is equipped with excellent experimental facilities, opening up a wide range of opportunities for cooperation in basic and applied research.
Your Profile
Ƶ is seeking an internationally distinguished scholar with extensive expertise in both basic and applied research as well as practical knowledge.
We expect:
- Excellent scientific achievements in research, demonstrated through relevant international publications, successful acquisition of third-party funding, or comparable accomplishments
- Specific experience in experimental research
- Experience in leadership and practical construction knowledge
Additionally, the following is desired:
- Willingness to engage in cross-faculty research
- Leadership skills and experience in cooperative team development
- Management experience in business
Participation in academic self-administration is mandatory.
